Self Help Group(SHG's) ;

The origin of self-help group ( SHG's) can be traced is from Grameen bank of Bangladesh, which was founded by Mohamed Yunus. Now various SGHs were started and formed in 1975.

Now in India NABARD initiated in 1986-1987. The absence of institutional credits available in the rural area has led to the establishment of SHGs.

Since 2014 SHG's formed quickly with the help of NABARD as well as by Aajeevika ( आजीविका ) ,NRLM ( national rural livelihood mission) mission initiated in India.

1 1 - What is the importance of self help group ???

Ans- SHG's more beneficial for developing & under developing nations worldwide level, SHG's are ensured through collective action of the members. This scheme mobilises the poor rural people especially women to form groups for mutual benefits. SHGs play a crucial role in improving the savings and credit and also in reducing poverty and social inequalities in societies of world.

Ans- Self help groups, also known as mutual help, mutual aid, or support groups, are groups of people who provide mutual support for each other. In a self-help group, the members share a common problem, often a common disease or addiction as well as other business they can discuss from it from right person for doing sound business.

Ans- Self Help Groups are groups of 10-20/30/50 people in a locality formed for any social or economic purpose. Most of the SHGs are formed for the purpose of better financial security among its members. ... SHGs in India,Bangladesh often work in association with Banks (SHG – Bank Linkage Programme).

Ans- “In self-help, you get help, you give help, and you help yourself.” ... Self-help is a process of sharing a common experience, challenge or concern. It is participatory in nature, and involves getting help, giving help, and learningto help yourself as well as sharing knowledge and experience.

7- Are self help groups effective?

Ans- A reasonable attitude of self-confidence promotes better participation on the part of the members of a group. Insecurity and lack of self-confidence are inhibitors that result in passiveness. Inversely, when members are free of these inhibitors, their participation is more effective.If SHG's operating by sound educated by male/ female by only small amount it can work as small startup then become a big SME ( small medium enterprises) company later Big Enterprises with in five year it depend upon follow long term self help group vision & mission.
